Charged-particle induced background expected in X-ray detecting CCDs in highly eccentric earth orbits
Danner, R.
Charged particle fluxes on satellites in highly eccentric Earth orbits are studied, using data from ISEE1 and EXOSAT missions. The effects of minimum-ionizing particles, low-energy electrons and secondary radiation produced by these particles on CCDs used as X-ray detectors are identified. A technique to discriminate events caused by minimum-ioniz…
Radio waves in the heliosphere
Bougeret, J. -L.
Solar radio emissions at long wavelengths (wavelengths greater than 10 m or frequencies smaller than 30 MHz) are produced in the upper corona and in the interplanetary medium (the Heliosphere), sometimes at very large distances from the Sun, up to the orbit of Jupiter and beyond. Solar radio emissions are produced by the passage of energetic parti…
The new Be-type star HD 147196 in the rho Ophiuchi dark cloud region.
Perez, M. R.; The, P. S.; de Winter, D. +1 more
The newly discovered hot-emission line star, HD 147196 in the Rho Oph dark cloud region was observed spectroscopically and photometrically and high and low resolution IUE spectra were obtained. The finding of Irvine (1990) that this relatively bright star show its H-alpha-line in emission is confirmed. Previous H-alpha-surveys of the Rho Oph star-…
The Proton and Alpha Spectra in and out of the Ecliptic, and the Appearance of the Anomalous He Component - Ulysses Observations

HST FOC/48 UV imagery of GR8.
Dufour, R. J.; Wyatt, R. J.; Patterson, B.
Imagery observations of GR8 were made in July 1991 with the Hubble Space Telescope. The Wide Field Camera imaged the entire galaxy at 5500 Å (F555W), 4390 Å (F439W), and 3360 Å (F336W); and two smaller fields around the H II regions HL5 and HL19 were imaged at 1400 Å (F150W) with the Faint Object Camera. B and V magnitudes for these stars are from…
Ulysses observations of a pure electron event and its associated type III radio emission on December 15, 1990
Chaizy, P.; Pick, M.; Forsyth, R. +5 more
We describe an electron event associated with a type III burst observed by Ulysses. This event was observed when the spacecraft crossed the region of strong compression between a fast and a slow solar wind stream, characterized by a relatively high density and a complex behaviour of the plasma density, magnetic field and energetic electron anisotr…

Einstein and EXOSAT observations of Geminga revisited
Bignami, G. F.; Mereghetti, S.; Caraveo, P.
We have re-analyzed the archive Einstein IPC and EXOSAT CMA x-ray data of Geminga, in the light of the recent discoveries on this source. The results of a search for the 237 msec periodicity are consistent with a pulsed fraction decreasing with x-ray energy. We have combined the EXOSAT CMA and the Einstein data in order to limit the spectral param…
