We present Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer observations of the B0 III star HD 177989 (l=17.8d, b=-11.9d, d=4.9 kpc). We have searched for evidence of emission at 15 µm with ISOCAM and at 90 µm with ISOPHOT from dust orbiting six nearby pulsars, both in binaries and in isolation, located at distances between about 100 to 1000 pc. We have obtained extreme ultraviolet (EUV) spectra of eight hot, ultramassive white dwarfs (M=0.9-1.3Msolar) with the Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer.
