Search for an OI Emission at 1304A in Jovian Auroral Spectra
Kim, Sang J.; Kim, Yong H.
Recent discovery of an Io-related features in Jupiter's auroral regions prompted us to search fot an OI multiplet at 1304 A in IUE aurora spectra. In three independent IUE spectra taken on January 18, 1981, we found an emission structure at 1304 A, with a signal-to-noise of about three. If the structure is due to the OI emission, then it is direct…

High-resolution imaging of the gravitational lens candidate 1208+1011 with the Nordic Optical Telescope.
Grundahl, F.; Hjorth, J.; Nilsson, K. +1 more
The large-redshift (z=3.8) quasar 1208+1011 has recently been discovered to be a gravitational lens candidate with a separation of 0.47" between the two imaged components (A and B). NOT (Nordic Optical Telescope) and HST (Hubble Space Telescope) studies from 1992 probing primarily the continuum light show that the amplification of A relative to B …
High Resolution Imaging of Pluto and Charon with the Faint Object Camera of the Hubble Space Telescope
Albrecht, R.
Images of the Pluto-Charon system were obtained with the Faint Object Camera (FOC) of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) with the aim of determination of radii, fluxes, and albedos. The resolution of the already diffraction limited images was further improved by image restoration, yielding indications of surface albedo distributions which are qualit…
Observations of minor planets by Hipparcos
Hestroffer, D.; Morando, B.
The main goal of Hipparcos is to build a catalogue of stars but 48 minor planets are bright enough and sufficiently pointlike to be observed also. This paper describes some aspects of the minor planets astrometric data reduction procedure. Comparison to the calculated places is given as well as a first attempt to minor planets orbital elements cor…

Analysis of the Mg II h spectral line shapes in HR 7275 and IM Peg.
Popović, L. Č.; Jankov, S.; Djurašević, G. +3 more
The analysis of high-resolution IUE spectra of the RS CVn type stars HR 7275 and IM Peg is presented. The inverse method technique was applied to the Mg II h chromospheric emission line, that shows the presence of interstellar absorption, in order to recover the intrinsic stellar line profile parameters.
