A photochemical model of ultraviolet atomic line emissions in the inner coma of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko
Bhardwaj, Anil; Raghuram, Susarla
Alice ultraviolet spectrometer onboard Rosetta space mission observed several spectroscopic emissions emanated from volatile species of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko (hearafter 67P/C-G) during its entire escorting phase. The measured emission intensities, when the comet was at around 3 AU pre-perihelion, have been used to derive electron densiti…
Absolute Magnitudes of Early-type Supergiants from uvbyβ Photometry and Parallax Data
Paunzen, Ernst; Prišegen, Michal; Kaltcheva, Nadia +2 more
We combine Strömgren-Crawford uvbyβ photometry with Gaia-DR2 parallaxes for a sample of 880 supergiants of O-B9 spectral types to explore the potential of these data in providing physical parameters of such stars. We obtained reddening corrections and photometric absolute magnitudes via the existing uvbyβ calibrations. We calculated Gaia-based abs…
An investigation of low-mass-ratio EW systems from the Catalina Sky Survey
Papageorgiou, A.; Catelan, M.; Christopoulou, P. E. +1 more
We have conducted a survey of overcontact binary systems (EW) with mass ratio ≤ 0.25 from the Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) that are considered strong merger candidates and are probable progenitors of FK Com-type stars and blue stragglers. The discovery of such extreme mass ratio overcontact binaries is vital to resolve the critical mass ratio ambigui…
The Molecular Outflow from R Mon
Güsten, R.; Sandell, Göran; Vacca, W. +1 more
We have mapped the young Herbig Be star R Mon in CO(3-2) and 13CO(3-2) with Atacama Pathfinder EXperiment in Chile and analyzed unpublished Herschel images. We find that R Mon is embedded in a small cloud with a gas temperature of ∼20 K and a total mass of ∼70 ${M}_{\odot }$ . We confirm that R Mon drives a bipolar molecular outflow, wh…
Precise photometry and astrometry in the core of the globular cluster NGC 6121 using PSF-R techniques
Tolstoy, Eline; Milli, Julien; Fiorentino, Giuliana +6 more
Precise stellar photometry and astrometry require the best possible modelling of the point spread function (PSF). To date, the best performances have been obtained when building the PSF a posteriori, meaning directly from the image of dense stellar fields, by exploiting the fact that each star represents a different realisation of the same PSF. Th…

Report from ILEWG Task Groups: Science, Technology, human aspects, roadmaps, socio-economics, young lunar explorers, MoonVillage, MoonMars synergies, EuroMoonMars, ArtMoonMars
Foing, Bernard
ILEWG has been organising since 1994 ICEUM International Conferences on Exploration & Utilisation of the Moon with published proceedings, and where community declarations have been prepared and endorsed by community participants. ILEWG has co-organised and co-sponsored lunar sessions at EGU, COSPAR, EPSC.ILEWG task groups include science, tech…
Herbig-Haro flows around the BBWo 192E (GM 1-23) nebula
Bally, J.; Rastorguev, A. S.; Movsessian, T. A. +2 more
Looking for evidence of recent star formation, we have studied a small comet-shaped reflection nebula, known as BBWo 192E (GM 1-23), which is located in the dark cloud SL 4 in the Vela Molecular Ridge cloud C, and a young infrared cluster embedded into the nebula. We obtained the images of BBWo 192E in Hα and [S II] lines and in a Sloan Digital Sk…
Kinematical structure of open clusters within 1 kpc by Gaia
Elsanhoury, W. H.
The work is based on proper motions, radial velocities, and absolute magnitudes of 56 open clusters located within 1 kpc. We classify those as a function of their distances into five groups (Freedman and Diaconis's rule) as well as a double frequency table may be achieved. For these groups, we calculated their velocity ellipsoid parameters VEPs, e…
