Absolute Properties of the Oscillating Eclipsing Algol X Trianguli
Kim, Dong-Jin; Wolf, Marek; Hong, Kyeongsoo +2 more
We report results from the TESS photometric data and new high-resolution spectra of the Algol system X Tri showing short-period pulsations. From the echelle spectra, the radial velocities of the eclipsing pair were measured, and the rotational rate and effective temperature of the primary star were obtained to be v 1sini = 84 ± 6 km s
HOPS 361-C's Jet Decelerating and Precessing through NGC 2071 IR
Quillen, Alice C.; Rubinstein, Adam E.; Federman, Samuel +5 more
We present a two-epoch Hubble Space Telescope study of NGC 2071 IR highlighting HOPS 361-C, a protostar producing an arced 0.2 parsec-scale jet. The proper motions for the brightest knots decrease from 350 to 100 km s-1 with increasing distance from the source. The [Fe II] and Paβ emission line intensity ratio gives a velocity jump thro…
Properties and asteroseismological analysis of a new ZZ ceti discovered by TMTS
Shi, Jianrong; Filippenko, Alexei V.; Esamdin, Ali +24 more
Tsinghua University-Ma Huateng Telescope for Survey (TMTS) aims to discover rapidly evolving transients by monitoring the northern sky. The TMTS catalogue is cross-matched with the white dwarf (WD) catalogue of Gaia EDR3, and light curves of more than a thousand WD candidates are obtained so far. Among them, the WD TMTS J23450729+5813146 is one in…
Structure and Kinematics of Sh2-138-A Distant Hub-filament System in the Outer Galactic Plane
Baug, Tapas; Dewangan, Lokesh K.; Mallick, Kshitiz K. +2 more
We present a molecular line study of the Sh2-138 (IRAS 22308+5812) hub-filament system with the aim of investigating its structure and kinematics. Archival CO molecular line data from the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey (CO(J = 1-0)) for the wider region (~50' × 50') and the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (CO(3-2), 13CO(3-2), and C18…
The origin of ultramassive white dwarfs: hints from Gaia EDR3
Caiazzo, Ilaria; Heyl, Jeremy; Fleury, Leesa
Gaia Data Release 2 revealed a population of ultramassive white dwarfs on the Q branch that are moving anomalously fast for a local disc population with their young photometric ages. As the velocity dispersion of stars in the local disc increases with age, a proposed explanation of these white dwarfs is that they experience a cooling delay that ca…
Spectral analysis of the Galactic supernova remnant Kesteven 69 with Suzaku
Yamauchi, Shigeo; Pannuti, Thomas G.
The results of a Suzaku observation of the supernova remnant (SNR) Kesteven 69 = G21.8-0.6 are presented. To estimate the sky background precisely, we conducted a simultaneous fit of the source region spectrum with the background region spectrum and found that the SNR spectrum is well represented by a two-component ionizing plasma model composed o…
Coordinated X-ray and UV absorption within the accretion disk wind of the active galactic nucleus PG 1126-041
Cappi, M.; Ponti, G.; Vignali, C. +14 more
Context. Accretion disk winds launched close to supermassive black holes (SMBHs) are a viable mechanism providing feedback between the SMBH and the host galaxy.
Aims: We aim to characterize the X-ray properties of the inner accretion disk wind of the nearby active galactic nucleus PG 1126-041 and to study its connection with the UV-absorbing …
Quantifying Morphological Changes and Sediment Transport Pathways on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko
Vincent, J. -B.; Hayes, A. G.; Birch, S. P. D. +3 more
Comets are active geological worlds with primitive surfaces that have been shaped to varying degrees by sublimation-driven sediment transport and mass wasting processes. Rosetta's rendezvous with comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko (67P) in 2014 provided data with the necessary spatial and temporal resolutions to observe many evolutionary processes on…
Resolved low-J12CO excitation at 190 parsec resolution across NGC 2903 and NGC 3627
Chevance, M.; Dale, D. A.; Schinnerer, E. +14 more
The low-J rotational transitions of 12CO are commonly used to trace the distribution of molecular gas in galaxies. Their ratios are sensitive to excitation and physical conditions in the molecular gas. Spatially resolved studies of CO ratios are still sparse and affected by flux calibration uncertainties, especially since most do not ha…
The SOIR/Venus Express species concentration and temperature database: CO2, CO, H2O, HDO, H35Cl, H37Cl, HF individual and mean profiles
Vandaele, A. C.; Trompet, L.; Robert, S. +2 more
This work is an update of the SOIR mean and individual profiles of CO2, CO, H2O, HDO, H35Cl, H37Cl, HF, and the temperature measured at the Venus terminator during the Venus Express mission (2006-2014).
The previous versions of the database were published by Chamberlain et al. (2020); Mahieux et al.…
