Photometric observations and frequency analysis of the Delta Scuti star IP UMa
Gavras, P.; Sinachopoulos, D.; Ducourant, Chr.
IP UMa is a Delta Scuti star discovered by Hipparcos. 2642 observations of this target were acquired with the 20cm telescope of the Nea Lesbos Observatory in 10 nights from June 2 to July 9, 2009 using the Bessel V filter. These data confirmed the pulsation frequency of the star listed in the Hipparcos Catalogue (10 c/d).
The flux modulation of INTEGRAL
Zhang, Shu; Chen, YuPeng; Wang, JianMin +2 more
We have analyzed International Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory (INTEGRAL) data corresponding to observations of the high mass X-ray binary (HMXB) V0332+53 during its huge outburst which occurred in 2004–2005, and found that there is a quasi periodic signal with ultra low frequency of roughly 4‑5×10‑5 Hz in the observation. This featur…
Flexible Tools for Accessing the Cluster Archives
Roth, M.; De Keyser, J.; Gamby, E.
Nowadays, multi-spacecraft analysis is becoming common practice. The lack of homogeneity in data archive structure, access types and data formats results in a lot of time spent to search, retrieve and reformat data. We have developed a software model dealing with these issues. In this model, we integrate an abstraction layer for accessing and cach…
Cluster observations of high-altitude cusp during multiple fast-turning IMF
Pitout, F.; Davies, J. A.; Dunlop, M. W. +3 more
Using coordinated observations from the Cluster, DMSP and ESR radar, high-altitude cusp was investigated for a time period characterized by four fast reversals of the IMF BZ. On February 12, 2003, Cluster was flying sunward at duskside over the Northern Hemisphere, across the high-altitude northern cusp twice. Both the two crossings are during ste…
Study and Implementation of the End-to-End Data Pipeline for the Virtis Imaging Spectrometer Onboard Venus Express: "From Science Operations Planning to Data Archiving and Higher Level Processing"
Cardesín Moinelo, Alejandro
This PhD Thesis describes the activities performed during the Research Program undertaken for two years at the Istituto Nazionale di AstroFisica in Rome, Italy, as active member of the VIRTIS Technical and Scientific Team, and one additional year at the European Space Astronomy Center in Madrid, Spain, as member of the Mars Express Science Ground …
Brorfelde Schmidt CCD Catalog
Zacharias, N.; Wycoff, G. L.; Clausen, J. V. +4 more
The Brorfelde Schmidt CCD Catalog (BSCC) contains about 13.7 million stars, north of +49° decl. with precise positions and V, R photometry. The catalog has been constructed from the reductions of 18,667 CCD frames observed with the Brorfelde Schmidt Telescope between 2000 and 2007. The Tycho-2 catalog was used for astrometric and photometric refer…

Using a Chandra Source-Finding Algorithm to Automatically Identify Solar X-ray Bright Points
Tennant, Allyn F.; Cirtain, J. W.; Adams, M.
We describe adapting a method that is used to find point sources in Chandra X-ray telescope data for use in finding solar X-ray bright points. The algorithm allows selected pixels to be excluded from the source-finding, thus excluding saturated pixels (from flares and/or active regions). For Chandra data the noise is determined by photon-counting …
Infusion of innovative technologies for mission operations
Donati, Alessandro
The Advanced Mission Concepts and Technologies Office (Mission Technologies Office, MTO for short) at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) of ESA is entrusted with research and development of innovative mission operations concepts systems and provides operations support to special projects. Visions of future missions and requests for improv…
Systematic surveys of the non thermal emission from white dwarfs with Suzaku and INTEGRAL
Dotani, Tadayasu; Ishida, Manabu; Hayashi, Takayuki +9 more
Continuous searches for other possible white dwarf (WD) pulsars like AE Aquarii[12] with Suzaku and INTEGRAL have been performed. After picking up WDs with known magnetic field strengths and spin periods from catalogs of CVs and isolated WDs, objects whose induced electric potentials exceed 1012 volts and dipole radiations over 102…
