HIPPARCOS Astrometry of Infrared-Selected Sources and the Connection Between Optical and Infrared Reference Frames
DOI: 10.1086/133979 Bibcode: 1997PASP..109.1085S

Sutton, E.

Astrometric data from the Hipparcos satellite are reported for the optical counterparts of 87 bright infrared sources. These sources may be useful in defining a reference frame for infrared observations. The data are also useful in studying the locations of circumstellar SiO masers. (SECTION: Stars)

Characteristics of Solar Type II Kilometer-Wave Radio Bursts
Bibcode: 1997HvaOB..21...57H

Hoang, S.; Zlobec, P.

In the spectral observations obtained at kilometric wavelengths by the instruments on Ulysses spacecraft solar low drift bursts were detected. Some of their characteristic parameters as well as similitudes and differences in respect to type II bursts observed at higher frequencies are considered.

Pick-up ions and associated wave energy transport at comet P/Halley: A case study
DOI: 10.1029/97GL00105 Bibcode: 1997GeoRL..24..305S

Neubauer, Fritz M.; Glassmeier, Karl-Heinz; Söding, Anne +1 more

During the flyby of the spacecraft Giotto at comet p/Halley Poynting vectors and Elsässer variables have been determined to study wave propagation directions. The observed wave properties are compared with the theoretically predicted RH-, LH+ and LH- wave modes. Between 10:36 and 19:11 SCET on March 13, 1986 the pr…

Isophot Observations Of Comet Hale-Bopp
DOI: 10.1023/A:1006281923528 Bibcode: 1997EM&P...78..299P

Lemke, D.; Leinert, Ch.; Heinrichsen, I. +11 more

Comet Hale-Bopp has been observed five times with ISOPHOT, the photometer on board the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO), four times before its perihelion passage at heliocentric distances of 4.92, 4.58, 2.93 and 2.81 AU, and at 3.91 AU postperihelion. Each time, multi-filter photometry covering the range between 3.6–175 µm with eight to ten …

Interplanetary variability in particle fluxes recorded by the low energy charged particle detector lion (40 KEV-6 MEV) on the soho spacecraft during its cruise phase to the L1 point
DOI: 10.1016/S0273-1177(97)00488-2 Bibcode: 1997AdSpR..20...99M

Kunow, H.; Muller-Mellin, R.; McKenna-Lawlor, Susan M. P. +6 more

Representative types of energetic particle phenomena recorded by the LION instrument on SOHO during its Transfer Phase to, and while in early Halo Orbit about, the L1 Lagrangian Point are presented. The data cover the period from 7 December 1995 (instrument switch on) until 9/10 July 1996 (when a particle event associated with the first Class X fl…

The Pulkovo catalog of 284 positions of Pluto in 1930 - 1994 based on observations from three observatories.
DOI: 10.1515/astro-1997-0260 Bibcode: 1997BaltA...6..349R

Ryl'Kov, V. P.; Dement'eva, A. A.; Narizhnaja, N. V.

A unique data archive of measurements and reduced positions of Pluto for the period from 1930 to 1994 has been collected from a new reduction of all photographic observations of Pluto obtained by Pulkovo astronomers. All 250 plates taken with the Pulkovo Normal astrograph were remeasured in 1993-1994. These measurements form data files that can be…

The Lyman-α line from the solar wind acceleration region: Results from an eight-moment approximation two-fluid solar wind model
DOI: 10.1029/97GL02583 Bibcode: 1997GeoRL..24.2873O

Olsen, Espen Lyngdal

We investigate neutral hydrogen in an eight-moment, two-fluid, high speed solar wind model. In this model the proton heat flux decreases rapidly in the solar wind acceleration region, and extended coronal heating of the proton gas leads to high coronal proton temperatures and large solar wind flow speeds. The properties of the Lyman-α line from th…
