EXOSAT and IUE Observations of the Symbiotic Binary R-Aquarii during Maximum and Minimum
Piro, L.; Friedjung, M.; Viotti, R. +1 more
Coordinated IUE and EXOSAT observations of the symbiotic Mira R Aqr, made in June and December 1985, at phases 0.0 and 0.5 of the Mira light curve, are discussed. A weak X-ray flux has been for the first time unambiquously detected without any significant change with the Mira light curve. Also the UV spectrum of the central object has not varied, …
The IUE spectrum of the early-type eclipsing binary mu1 Scorpii.
Sahade, Jorge; Garcia, Lia G.
The ultraviolet spectrum of the system Mu1 Scorpii at two phases of the orbital cycle is described. The presence of resonance lines of Si IV and C IV suggests that there are nonthermal sources in the system. The spectrum displays absorption lines that appear to follow the orbital motion of either component. The spectrum also displays sharp absorpt…
A Large X-ray Flare on σ2 Coronae Borealis Observed with EXOSAT
Mewe, R.; Brinkman, A. C.; van den Oord, G. H. J.
We report the observation of a compact flare on σ2 Coronae Borealis. The energy requirements for the flare are discussed and we find that current-driven turbulence can produce heating fast enough. During the initial phase of the flare classical transport theory is not applicable.

COS-B upper limit to the greater than 70 MeV gamma-ray flux from a gamma-ray burst event of 1979 November 9
Clements, D. L.; Williams, O. R.; Sumner, T. J. +1 more
Using the COS-B data base an upper limit of 2×10-7cm-2s-1keV-1 has been set to the high energy (70 - 1000 MeV) gamma-ray burst flux from a gamma-ray burst event of 1979 November 9. This limit is consistent with a power law extension from the lower energy data with a differential index of ≤-1.39. An upper…

Extinction in external galaxies.
Thompson, G. I.
It is suggested that there are only two general extinction laws, the galactic type and the linear SMC type. An attempt is made to show that the LMC extinction law is a composite of these two. The result is inconclusive due to the sensitivity of the constants of fit to the empirical data.
EXOSAT observations of the 5 March 1979 gamma-ray burst source location (GBS 0526-66).
Parmar, A. N.; Pedersen, H.; Brinkmann, W. +7 more
The authors report about a two day observation of the 1979 March 5 gamma-ray burst location (GBS 0526-66) with the European X-ray satellite EXOSAT. These observations were performed on 1984 December 30 and 1985 January 3 in coordination with a world wide burst watch of this location by a variety of instruments sensitive in the optical, radio and X…
Giotto Observations of Comet Halley Dust: Discussion

Exploration of the Dust Environment of the Inner Coma of Comet Halley
McDonnell, J. A. M.
Observations of the dust environment of Comet Halley obtained with Giotto, Vega, Susuei, and Sakigake spacecraft are presented and analyzed. Optical/IR, interplanetary space environment, flux and composition, and dynamics and trajectories experiments were conducted. The relation between the dust environment of comets and meteoroid streams is discu…
