Bayesian approach to the cyclic activity of CF Oct
Hambaryan, V. V.; Borisova, A. P.; Innis, J. L.
The Bayesian statistical methods of Gregory-Loredo and the Bretthorst generalization of the Lomb-Scargle periodogram are used to study the activity cycles of the early K-type subgiant star CF Oct. We use a ∼45-yr-long data set derived from archival photographic observations, published photoelectric photometry, the Hipparcos data series and the All…

The Nature of a Galaxy along the Sight Line to PKS 0454+039
Kulkarni, Varsha P.; Gharanfoli, Soheila; Takamiya, Marianne +1 more
We report on the properties of a faint blue galaxy (G1) along the line of sight to the QSO PKS 0454+039 from spectroscopic and imaging data. We measured emission lines of Hα, [S II] λλ6716, 6732, and [N II] λ6584 in the spectrum of G1 obtained with the Gemini/GMOS instrument. The spectroscopic redshift of G1 is z = 0.0715 ± 0.0002. From the extinc…
The Herschel M 33 extended survey (HerM33es): PACS spectroscopy of the star forming region BCLMP 302 (Corrigendum)
Boquien, M.; Braine, J.; Calzetti, D. +19 more
Herschel is an ESA space observatory with science instruments provided by European-led Principal Investigator consortia and with important participation from NASA.
NT Aps, a southern sky W UMa stellar system with a decreasing period.
Middleton, C. T.
NT Aps, a W UMa star in the southern hemisphere, was observed in white light in 2007 and Band V filter in 2008 using personal telescopes from South Africa. From the Hipparcos ephemeris of 1991 a decrease in period of ~125 seconds per year for the binary is detected. Furthermore, software modeling packages of BINARY MAKER 3 and PHOEBE were employed…

Effect of hot jupiters on the variability of stellar radiation
Arkharov, A. A.; Ruban, E. V.
The effect of hot jupiters on the variability of light from 14 bright stars with planets that are listed in the Pulkovo Spectrophotometric Catalog (PSC) and the Hipparcos photometric catalog is studied. The spectral range 320-1080 nm and the Vt and Bt photometric magnitudes are examined. The photometric observations reveal microvariability of the …
On the possibility to determine the electrical conductivity of 67P/CG from ROSETTA magnetic field observations
Glassmeier, K. -H.; Carr, C.; Richter, I. +3 more
The ROSETTA mission to comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko presents us for the first time the opportunity to study the interior of a cometary nucleus. Information about the electrical conductivity and its distribution inside the nucleus can be derived by measuring the magnetic fields induced in the nucleus by variations of the interplanetary magnetic …
A multiwavelength study of the IRAS Deep Survey galaxy sample. III. Spectral classification and dynamical properties
Mazzei, P.; Bettoni, D.; Della Valle, A.
Context. The infrared deep sample (IDS), in the north ecliptical polar region (NEPR), is the first complete, far-IR selected sample, on which numerous studies of galaxy evolution are based. Such a sample allows direct investigation of the evolution of dusty galaxies up to a redshift of about 0.3, where the global star formation rate is known to ev…
