Searches of the Periods and Definition of Variability Types of New Variable Stars TX Crv, DP Cam, IRAS 17583+5150
Solonovich, A. P.; Bryukhanov, I. S.; Sergey, I. M.
Measurements of brightness of stars TX Crv, DP Cam, IRAS 17583+5150 opened in "IRAS" and "HIPPARCOS" experiments are carried out using negatives of the Odessa observatory. Proposed types of these stars: TX Crv -- type ISB(?), DP Cam -- type ISB, IRAS 17583+5150 -- type SRB (SRC).
Chemical and Dynamical Evolution in the Solar Neighbourhood
Kovtyukh, V.; Soubiran, C.; Bienaymé, O. +1 more
We measure the surface mass density of the galactic disk in the solar neighbourhood using two samples of red clump stars, we also determine the thin and thick disk chemical properties. High resolution spectral data of red clump stars towards the NGP have been obtained with the spectrograph Elodie at OHP for Tycho-2 selected stars. Nearby Hipparcos…
X-ray analysis of the colliding wind binary FO15
Albacete Colombo, J. F.
We combine and analyze ten XMM-Newton X-ray observations of the FO15 hot massive (O5V((f))+O9.5V) binary system. EPIC spectra are fitted according to a warm absorption model N(ism)x N(wind) in combination with a two temperature (APEC) optically thin thermal plasma model of temperatures kT(1)=0.22 and kT(2)=2.62 keV, and the inclusion of six indepe…
Scientific instruments studied by Galileo Avionica for Mars surface exploration
Cosi, M.; Battistelli, E.; Bini, A. +3 more
Several missions for planetary explorations, including comets and asteroids, are planned by the space agencies: Rosetta (close to the launch date at the time of writing) Bepi Colombo, Mars Programme in all its past and next missions. The satisfaction of this scientific request calls for the development of some instruments and facilities devoted to…
Analysis of stellar activity of F, G and K stars with IUE
Buccino, A. P.; Mauas, P. J. D.
In this work, we correct in colour (B-V) the calibration between the Mount Wilson (S_MW) and the Mg II index (X_hk) we have presented in previous works. With this calibration, we build a catalog of the Mg II and Ca II indexes for all the F, G and K main sequence stars with high resolution IUE spectra (i.e. 1640 observations of 269 stars). Finally,…
The central star of the planetary nebula LMC-N66: a massive accreting white dwarf?
Hamann, W. -R.; Peña, M.
The central star of the PN LMC-N66 showed an impressive outburst in 1993 - 1994, returning to its initial conditions about 8 years later. Its spectrum resembles that of a WN4.5 star, being the only confirmed central star of planetary nebulae showing such a spectral type. Recent analysis for the central star parameters, performed by Hamann et al. (…
A survey of radio jets with Chandra and HST
Sambruna, Rita M.
Relativistic jets are a common property of radio-loud Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). Understanding jet physical properties is an essential precursor to understanding the mechanisms of energy transport, and ultimately, how energy is extracted from the central black hole. In this paper, I highlight recent developments from Chandra and HST observation…
Correction to "Low energy charged particles in the high latitude heliosphere: Comparing solar maximum and solar minimum"

Ulysses: the forgotten mission
Cooper, Keith
Ulysses spacecraft is searching for gamma-ray bursts, interstellar dust and magnetic fields, solar wind, radio radiation. It is underway since 13 years.
