ISOPHOT Observations of VEGA and Vega-like Stars

Detailed ISOPHOT observations of the far infrared excess of α Lyrae (Vega) are presented. The data comprise photometry in the range 25µm to 200µm and high resolution 60µm scan data to compare with 60µm and 90µm oversampled maps. The dust disk around Vega is clearly resolved. We have correlated the ~1 MeV proton intensity (J) measured at corotating reverse shocks detected by Ulysses near the ecliptic plane and in the southern hemisphere with the shock strength and shock normal angle. Excitation of Far-Infrared Lines of OH and Maser Pumping Efficiency in Circumstellar Envelopes

We present the results obtained with a radiative transfer model to investigate the excitation of OH molecules. Maser pumping efficiencies are estimated from the model and compared to the value calculated using recent OH far-infrared (FIR) observations with ISO and OH maser data.
