A Global Perspective with Updated Constraints on the Ultra-hot Jupiter WASP-19b: Atmospheric Properties and Stellar Activity
Kataria, Tiffany; Ballester, Gilda E.; Knutson, Heather A. +7 more
We present a detailed reanalysis of the atmospheric properties of WASP-19b, an ultra-hot Jupiter (1.14 M Jup, 1.41 R Jup) orbiting an active Sun-like star every 0.79 day. We reanalyze a transit and secondary eclipse of WASP-19b observed by the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field Camera 3 spectrograph (1.1–1.7 µm). When …
Different Planetary Eccentricity-period (PEP) Distributions of Small and Giant Planets
Faigler, Simchon; Mazeh, Tsevi; Bashi, Dolev
We used the database of 1040 short-period (1 ≤ P < 200 days) exoplanets radial-velocity orbits to study the planetary eccentricity-period (PEP) distribution. We first divided the sample into low- and high-mass exoplanet subsamples based on the distribution of the (minimum) planetary masses, which displays a clear two-Gaussian distribution, sepa…
Closeby Habitable Exoplanet Survey (CHES). II. An Observation Strategy for the Target Stars
Zhu, Zi; Li, Dong; Chen, Guo +11 more
The Closeby Habitable Exoplanet Survey (CHES) constitutes a mission intricately designed to systematically survey approximately 100 solar-type stars located within the immediate proximity of the solar system, specifically within a range of 10 pc. The core objective of this mission is the detection and characterization of potentially habitable Eart…
Detection of Faint Sources by the UltraViolet Imaging Telescope Onboard AstroSat Using Poisson Distribution of Background
Sreekumar, P.; Ananthamoorthy, B.; Bhattacharya, Debbijoy +1 more
We present an improved approach for constructing the UV source catalogs using observations from the UltraViolet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) onboard AstroSat, by considering the Poisson distribution of the UV background. The method is tested extensively using fields that are not crowded, the Small Magellanic Cloud and M31 (Field 13). The results are c…
Photometric Metallicity and Distance for the Two RR Lyrae in Segue II and Ursa Major II Dwarf Galaxies Based on Multiband Light Curves
Ngeow, Chow-Choong; Bhardwaj, Anupam
Multiband light curves of two RR Lyrae variables in Segue II and Ursa Major II ultrafaint dwarf galaxies were collected from near simultaneous observations using the Lulin One-meter Telescope in Vgri bands. Together with Gaia G-band light curves, we determined photometric metallicities using empirical relations involving pulsation period and Fouri…
Demography of Stellar Radio Population within 500 pc: A VLASS-Gaia DR3 Study
Narang, Mayank; Tyagi, H.; Shridharan, B. +5 more
In this work, we have carried out a systematic analysis of the Very Large Array Sky Survey (VLASS) quick look catalogs together with Gaia DR3 to identify the optical counterparts of 3 GHz radio emitters within 500 pc to obtain a homogeneous statistical sample of stellar radio sources. We have identified distinct populations of 3 GHz emitters acros…
Hα Emission and H II Regions at the Locations of Recent Supernovae in Nearby Galaxies
Leroy, Adam K.; Chevance, Mélanie; Glover, Simon C. O. +22 more
We present a statistical analysis of the local, ≈50–100 pc scale, Hα emission at the locations of recent (≤125 yr) supernovae (SNe) in nearby star-forming galaxies. Our sample consists of 32 SNe in 10 galaxies that are targets of the PHANGS-MUSE survey. We find that 41% (13/32) of these SNe occur coincident with a previously identified H II region…
Gas-phase Molecules in Protoplanetary Nebulae with the 21 µm Emission Feature
Zhang, Yong; Li, Fei; Zhang, Jiang-Shui +6 more
It has been more than 30 years since the enigmatic 21 µm emission feature was first discovered in protoplanetary nebulae (PPNs). Although dozens of different dust carrier candidates have been proposed, there is as yet no widely accepted one. We present the results of molecular observations toward 21 µm objects using the 10 m Submillime…
An Episode of Occultation Events in Gaia21bcv
Gaidos, Eric; Shappee, Benjamin J.; Kenworthy, Matthew A. +4 more
A previously unremarkable star near the Canis Major OB1/R1 association underwent an episode of multiple deep brightness minima. Light curves based on archival Gaia, Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF), and NEOWISE data and additional observations from the Las Cumbres Observatory and UKIRT show that the star was not variable prior to 2019 August 18 (MJ…
The MDW Hα Sky Survey: Data Release 0
Walker, Gary; Sliski, David H.; Schiminovich, David +9 more
The Mittelman–di Cicco–Walker (MDW) Hα Sky Survey is an autonomously operated and ongoing all-sky imaging survey in the narrowband Hα wavelength. The survey was founded by amateur astronomers and is presented here in its first stage of refinement for rigorous scientific use. Each field is exposed through an Hα filter with a 3 nm bandwidth for a to…
