Phase Resolved UV Spectroscopy of RX J0019.8+2156
Gänsicke, B. T.; Beuermann, K.; de Martino, D.
We present orbital phase-resolved UV spectroscopy of the supersoft X-ray source RX J0019.8+2156 obtained with IUE in 1992-93. The UV and optical light curves show a quasi-sinusoidal orbital modulation with wavelength dependent amplitude and a deep secondary minimum at Φ∼0.6. The UV spectrum is of lower excitation than in other SSS. The various met…
X-Ray Properties of Symbiotic Stars: I. The Supersoft Symbiotic Novae RR Tel and SMC3 (=RX J0048.4-7332)
Wolff, B.; Jordan, S.; Mürset, U.
We searched the ROSAT archive for pointed PSPC observations covering positions of symbiotic stars. 16 systems are detected. We find three distinct types of energy distributions, one of which is supersoft. This class consists of seven objects, among them two symbiotic novae, RR Tel and SMC3, which are discussed in more detail in this paper. The sup…
Multiwavelength Observations of the Symbiotic Star AG Dra During 1979-1995
Greiner, J.; Altamore, A.; González-Riestra, R. +5 more
Since 1980 the high velocity symbiotic system AG Dra has undergone three phases of activity (or "outbursts") which were extensively observed in optical, ultraviolet and X-ray bands. We describe the historical light curve of the star, and summarize 17 years of UV monitoring with the IUE satellite.
UV and X-Ray Monitoring of AG Draconis During the 1994/1995 Outbursts
Greiner, J.; Altamore, A.; González-Riestra, R. +3 more
The recent 1994-1995 active phase of AG Draconis has given us for the first time the opportunity to follow the full X-ray behaviour of a symbiotic star during two successive outbursts and to compare with its quiescence X-ray emission. With ROSAT observations we have discovered a remarkable decrease of the X-ray flux during both optical maxima, fol…
