Hinode SP Vector Magnetogram of AR10930 and Its Cross-Comparison with MDI
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/59.sp3.S625 Bibcode: 2007PASJ...59S.625M

Moon, Yong-Jae; Shimojo, Masumi; Tsuneta, Saku +17 more

We present one Hinode Spectropolarimeter (SP) magnetogram of AR 10930 that produced several major flares. The inversion from Stokes profiles to magnetic field vectors was made using the standard Milne-Eddington code. We successfully applied the Uniform Shear Method for resolving the 180° ambiguity to the magnetogram. The inversion gave very strong…

An Apparent Hard X-Ray Decline of CH Cygni
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/59.sp1.S177 Bibcode: 2007PASJ...59S.177M

Ishida, Manabu; Mori, Hideyuki; Terada, Yukikatsu +4 more

CH Cygni is a symbiotic star consisting of an M giant and an accreting white dwarf, which is known to be a highly variable X-ray source with a complex, two-component, spectra. Here, we report on two Suzaku observations of CH Cyg, taken in 2006 January and May, during which the system was seen to be in a soft X-ray bright, hard X-ray faint state. B…

In-Orbit Focal Adjustment of the AKARI Telescope with Infrared Camera (IRC) Images
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/59.sp2.S423 Bibcode: 2007PASJ...59S.423K

Takagi, T.; Wada, T.; Onaka, T. +4 more

AKARI, currently in space, carries onboard a cryogenically cooled light-weight telescope with silicon carbide mirrors. The wavefront error of the AKARI telescope, obtained in laboratory measurements at 9 K, showed that the expected in-orbit imaging performance was diffraction-limited at a wavelength of 6.2 µm, slightly degraded from that exp…

Discovery of a Possible X-Ray Counterpart to HESS J1804-216
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/59.sp1.S209 Bibcode: 2007PASJ...59S.209B

Maeda, Yoshitomo; Kokubun, Motohide; Takahashi, Tadayuki +10 more

Suzaku deep observations have discovered two highly significant nonthermal X-ray sources, Suzaku J1804-2142 (Src 1) and Suzaku J1804-2140 (Src 2), positionally coincident with the unidentified TeV γ-ray source, HESS J1804-216. The X-ray sources are not time variable and show no counterpart in other wavebands, except for the TeV source. Src 1 is un…

Hinode Observations of the Onset Stage of a Solar Filament Eruption
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/59.sp3.S823 Bibcode: 2007PASJ...59S.823S

Narukage, Noriyuki; Kano, Ryohei; Sakao, Taro +12 more

We used Hinode X-Ray Telescope (XRT) and Solar Optical Telescope (SOT) filtergraph (FG) Stokes-V magnetogram observations, to study the early onset of a solar eruption that includes an erupting filament that we observe in TRACE EUV images. The filament undergoes a slow rise for at least 20min prior to its fast eruption and strong soft X-ray (SXR) …

Suzaku Spectroscopic Study of Hard X-Ray Emission in the Arches Cluster
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/59.sp1.S229 Bibcode: 2007PASJ...59S.229T

Tsujimoto, Masahiro; Koyama, Katsuji; Hyodo, Yoshiaki

We present the results of a Suzaku study of the Arches cluster in the Galactic center region. A high signal-to-noise ratio spectrum in the 3-12keV band was obtained with the X-ray Imaging Spectrometer (XIS) onboard the Suzaku observatory. We found that the spectrum consists of a thermal plasma, a hard power-law tail, and two Gaussian line componen…

Near-Infrared Polarimetry of the Eagle Nebula (M 16)
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/59.3.507 Bibcode: 2007PASJ...59..507S

Tamura, Motohide; Hashimoto, Jun; Kusakabe, Nobuhiko +10 more

We carried out deep and wide (∼ 8 × 8) JHKs imaging polarimetry in the southern region of the Eagle Nebula (M 16). The polarization intensity map reveals that two YSOs with near-IR reflection nebulae are located at the tips of two famous molecular pillars (Pillars 1 and 2) facing toward the exciting stars of M 16. The centrosymmetric po…

Nature of Infrared Sources in 11 µm Selected Sample from Early Data of the AKARI North Ecliptic Pole Deep Survey
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/59.sp2.S529 Bibcode: 2007PASJ...59S.529L

Im, M.; Lee, H. M.; Pearson, C. P. +25 more

We present the properties of 11 10^{12} L_{⊙} based on detailed modelling of the SEDs. We also find four AGNs lying at various redshifts in the main sample. In addition, we discuss a few sources that have non-typical SEDs of the main sample, including a brown-dwarf candidate, a steep power-law source, a flat-spectrum object, and an early-type gala…

Pearson, C. P.; Ohyama, Y.; Takagi, T. +17 more

We report on the first results of a near- and mid-infrared deep survey with the Infrared Camera (IRC) onboard AKARI in the performance-verification phase. Simultaneous observations by the Near-InfraRed (NIR), Mid-InfraRed Short (MIR-S), and Mid-InfraRed Long (MIR-L) channels of the IRC with effective integration times of 4529, 4908, and 4417 secon…
