Quiet sun XUV and EUV spectroscopy
Lemaire, P.
The two XUV-EUV spectrometers on SOHO have collected a large amount of data in the 6000-10 6 K solar plasma temperature range. These data have allowed us to greatly enhance our knowledge of the processes acting in the solar atmosphere, from the chromosphere to the corona. Some results on the quiet Sun structure (network, quiet Sun versu…
Detection of CFIRB with AKARI/FIS deep observations
Nakagawa, Takao; Shirahata, Mai; Jeong, Woong-Seob +8 more
The Cosmic Far-Infrared Background (CFIRB) contains information about the number and distribution of contributing sources and thus gives us an important key to understand the evolution of galaxies. Using a confusion study to set a fundamental limit to the observations, we investigate the potential to explore the CFIRB with AKARI/FIS deep observati…
Solar X-ray and EUV corona and their relation to the magnetic activity
Benevolenskaya, Elena E.
We have studied the solar magnetic cycle in corona using X-ray data from YOHKOH and Extreme Ultraviolet data from SOHO/EIT. Soft X-ray data last the period from after the maximum cycle 22 to the maximum cycle 23 (1991-2001). The SOHO/EIT Extreme Ultraviolet data are used for the period from 1996 to 2003. These data provide us a unique opportunity …
The dynamics of the minimum solar corona during the period August October 1996
Schwenn, R.; Mierla, M.; Teriaca, L. +2 more
The paper presents the dynamics of the solar corona at the minimum phase of the solar cycle (period August-October 1996), as inferred from LASCO-C1 spectral data. LASCO-C1 is an internally occulted coronagraph aboard the SOHO spacecraft. It has a tunable Fabry-Pérot interferometer which allows taking spectral scans of selected coronal emission lin…
The COSAC experiment of the Rosetta mission: Performance under representative conditions and expected scientific return
Rosenbauer, H.; Szopa, C.; Goesmann, F. +2 more
The Cometary Sampling and Composition (COSAC) experiment is a combined gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer onboard the Philae cometary surface probe of the Rosetta mission. Its goal is to analyse, directly at the surface of a comet, the molecular and elemental compositions of the cometary nucleus samples collected by the probe. The present article…
EUV coronal pattern of complexes of solar activity
Benevolenskaya, Elena E.
Studying of the coronal plasma associated with long-lived complexes of the solar activity is important for understanding a relationship between the magnetic activity and the solar corona changing during the solar cycle. In the present paper, two long-lived complexes of the solar activity at the beginning of the current solar cycle 23 are investiga…
Evolution of coronal mass ejections in the early stage
Zhang, Hongqi; Lin, Jun; Li, Leping +2 more
This work reports the investigation of two coronal mass ejections (CME) observed in white light, Hα, EUV and X-ray by various instruments both in space and on ground on February 18, 2003 and January 19, 2005, respectively. The white light coronal images show that the first CME began with the rarefaction of a region above the solar limb and was fol…

The evolution of a complex solar radio burst corresponding to special configuration of microwave sources
Liu, Y. Y.; Xie, R. X.; Ren, D. B.
A complex radio burst associated with periodic (∼1 and 6 min) pulsations and several kinds fine structures, e.g., normal- and reverse-drifting type III bursts, zebra patterns, and slowly drifting structure was observed with the radio spectrometers (1.0-2.0, 2.6-3.8, 5.2-7.6, and 0.65-1.5 GHz) at the National Astronomical Observatories of China (NA…
Hard X-ray colours of neutron star and black hole low mass X-ray binaries with INTEGRAL
Paltani, Stéphane; Courvoisier, Thierry J. -L.; Mowlavi, Nami +3 more
The X-ray spectra of low mass X-ray binaries (LMXB) can change on short time-scales, making it difficult to follow their spectral characteristics in detail through model fitting. Colour-colour (C-C) diagrams are therefore often used as alternative, model independent, tools to study the spectral variability of these sources. The INTEGRAL mission, w…
