The variable energy-distribution of the gamma-ray emission from Geminga
Grenier, I. A.; Hermsen, W.; Hote, C.
The gamma-ray emission of Geminga during five COS-B observations has been analysed to derive its spectral properties between 50 MeV and 5 GeV. In all observations but one, the spectrum presents a turnover between 100 and 200 MeV, the source becoming very weak at the lowest gamma- ray energies. During the remaining observation, the spectrum is cons…
Leptonic origin of diffuse galactic high-energy gamma rays - Indications for a varying cosmic ray proton-to-electron ratio
Schlickeiser, R.; Pohl, M.
The flux of high-energy (more than 300 MeV) gamma rays - caused by nonthermal bremsstrahlung and inverse Compton scattering - and the synchrotron flux at 408 MHz are calculated with the same power-law spectrum of relativistic electrons. Both are compared with the values observed at higher latitudes in the anticenter direction by employing the COS-…
Reexamination of discrete sources with ????b > 20 from COS-B data
Ma, Y.; Luo, Y.; Yu, K. N. +1 more
Using the cross-correlation and bootstrap sampling methods, the COS-B data in the observations with I b I > 20° are re-examined to search for discrete sources. Two source features have been identified and the possible counterparts are the pulsar PSR0950+08 and the weak
