NEOWISE Variability of the New Gaia Herbig Ae/Be and Classical Be Stars-Variability Sample and Statistical Analysis
Mei, Ying; Song, Shi-Ming; Liu, Jun-Ting +2 more
Light variability is an essential attribute of young stellar objects (YSOs) at the pre-main-sequence (PMS) stage, which can be treated as an indicator to trace star formation. We present a statistical study on the infrared NEOWISE variability of new and large-sized PMS stars as well as Herbig Ae/Be (HAeBe) and classical Be (CBe) stars identified f…
A Catalog of New Slowly Pulsating B-type Stars
Shi, Xiang-dong; Qian, Sheng-bang; Zhu, Li-ying +1 more
This paper reports the discovery of new slowly pulsating B-type stars. Based on the photometric, spectral, and astrometric data of the TESS, LAMOST, and Gaia surveys, we have found 286 new slowly pulsating B-type (SPB) stars and 21 candidates. Among these, 20 are Be stars or candidates with emission-line profiles. It is shown that these SPB stars …
Kinematics of the Local Spiral Structure Revealed by Young Stars in Gaia DR3
Xu, Ye; Liu, Dejian; Hao, Chaojie +4 more
Using young open clusters and O-B2-type stars in Gaia Data Release 3, we investigate the kinematics of the local spiral structure. In general, the young sources in the outer spiral arms may present larger peculiar motions than those in the inner spiral arms. The young open clusters appear to have smaller peculiar motions than the O-B2-type stars, …
Quasiperiodic Variations of Coronal Mass Ejections with Different Angular Widths
Mei, Ying; Wang, Feng; Deng, Hui +2 more
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are energetic expulsions of organized magnetic features from the Sun. The study of CME quasiperiodicity helps establish a possible relationship between CMEs, solar flares, and geomagnetic disturbances. We used the angular width of CMEs as a criterion for classifying the CMEs in the study. Based on 25 yr of observation…
An XMM-Newton View of the Andromeda Galaxy as Explored in a Legacy Survey (New-ANGELS). I. The X-Ray Source Catalog
Bregman, Joel N.; Zhang, Yi; Wang, Q. Daniel +6 more
We introduce the New-ANGELS program, an XMM-Newton survey of a ~7.2 deg2 area around M31, which aims to study the X-ray populations in the M31 disk and the X-ray-emitting hot gas in the inner halo of M31 up to 30 kpc. In this first paper, we report the catalog of 4506 detected X-ray sources and attempt to cross-identify or roughly class…
Ionized-gas Metallicity of the Strong [O III]λ5007 Emission-line Compact Galaxies in the LAMOST Survey
Luo, A. -Li; Kong, Xiao; Zhao, Yong-Heng +4 more
This article reports a sample of 1830 strong [O III]λ5007 emission-line compact galaxies discovered with the LAMOST spectroscopic survey and the photometric catalog of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We newly identify 402 spectra of 346 strong [O III]λ5007 emission-line compact galaxies by finding compact isolated point sources. Combined with the sa…
HST Low-resolution Stellar Library
Gregg, Michael D.; Worthey, Guy; Silva, David R. +2 more
In order to provide fundamental stellar spectra that extend into the UV, Hubble Space Telescope's Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph targeted 556 stars via proposals GO9088, GO9786, GO10222, and GO13776. Exposures through three low-resolution gratings provide wavelength coverage from 0.2 < λ < 1 µm at λ/Δλ ~ 1000. The UV grating (G23…
Nonequilibrium Ionization Effects on Synthetic Spectra in the AWSoM Solar Corona
Landi, E.; van der Holst, B.; Szente, J.
In this work, we combined AWSoM's nonequilibrium ionization (NEI) calculations from Szente et al. with the synthetic spectral computations of SPECTRUM to predict nonequilibrium line intensities across the entire domain of the AWSoM 3D global model. We find that the resulting spectra are strongly affected by nonequilibrium effects in the fast-wind …
The GFCAT: A Catalog of Ultraviolet Variables Observed by GALEX with Subminute Resolution
Bianchi, Luciana; Fleming, Scott W.; Osten, Rachel +2 more
We have performed the first systematic search of the full Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) data archive for astrophysical variability on timescales of seconds to minutes by rebinning data across the whole mission to 30 s time resolution. The result is the GALEX Flare Catalog (GFCAT), which describes 1426 ultraviolet variable sources, including st…
CMR Exploration. I. Filament Structure with Synthetic Observations
Klessen, Ralf S.; Arce, Héctor G.; Kong, Shuo +2 more
In this paper, we carry out a pilot parameter exploration for the collision-induced magnetic reconnection (CMR) mechanism that forms filamentary molecular clouds. Following Kong et al., we utilize Athena++ to model CMR in the context of resistive magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), considering the effect from seven physical conditions, including the ohmic…
