A Survey of Molecular Hydrogen in the Crab Nebula
DOI: 10.1088/0067-0049/194/2/30 Bibcode: 2011ApJS..194...30L

We have carried out a near-infrared, narrowband imaging survey of the Crab Nebula, in the H2 2.12 µm and Brγ 2.17 µm lines, using the Spartan Infrared camera on the SOAR Telescope. Over a 2farcm8 × 5farcm1 area that encompasses about 2/3 of the full visible extent of the Crab, we detect 55 knots that emit strongly in the H

The Interplanetary Network Supplement to the Burst and Transient Source Experiment 5B Catalog of Cosmic Gamma-Ray Bursts
DOI: 10.1088/0067-0049/196/1/1 Bibcode: 2011ApJS..196....1H

Cline, T.; Hurley, K.; Kouveliotou, C. +10 more

We present Interplanetary Network localization information for 343 gamma-ray bursts observed by the Burst and Transient Source Experiment (BATSE) between the end of the 4th BATSE catalog and the end of the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO) mission, obtained by analyzing the arrival times of these bursts at the Ulysses, Near Earth Asteroid Rende…

Comparison of Millimeter-wave and X-Ray Emission in Seyfert Galaxies
DOI: 10.1088/0067-0049/195/2/23 Bibcode: 2011ApJS..195...23M

Phillips, T. G.; Blain, A. W.; Monje, R. R.

We compare the emission at multiple wavelengths of an extended Seyfert galaxy sample, including both types of Seyfert nuclei. We use the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory to observe the CO J = 2-1 transition line in a sample of 45 Seyfert galaxies and detect 35 of them. The galaxies are selected by their joint soft X-ray (0.1-2.4 keV) and far-infr…

Between 2000 November and 2006 May, one or more spacecraft of the interplanetary network (IPN) detected 226 cosmic gamma-ray bursts that were also detected by the French Gamma-Ray Telescope experiment on board the High Energy Transient Experiment 2 spacecraft. During this period, the IPN consisted of up to nine spacecraft, and using triangulation,…

Galactic S Stars: Investigations of Color, Motion, and Spectral Features
DOI: 10.1088/0067-0049/196/1/5 Bibcode: 2011ApJS..196....5O

Green, Paul J.; Gray, Richard O.; Otto, Elizabeth

Known bright S stars, recognized as such by their enhanced s-process abundances and C/O ratio, are typically members of the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) or the red giant branch. Few modern digital spectra for these objects have been published, from which intermediate resolution spectral indices and classifications could be derived. For published …

The Advanced Camera for Surveys+Wide Field Camera 3 Survey for Lyman Limit Systems. I. The Data
DOI: 10.1088/0067-0049/195/2/16 Bibcode: 2011ApJS..195...16O

Prochaska, J. Xavier; Chen, Hsiao-Wen; Madau, Piero +1 more

We present a set of 71 quasars observed in the near ultraviolet with the PR200L prism on the Advanced Camera for Surveys and the G280 grism on the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) on board the Hubble Space Telescope. The quasars were selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey data to search for intervening Lyman limit system (LLS) absorption. The sample…

Finding Persistent Sources with the BeppoSAX/Wide Field Camera: An In-depth Analysis
DOI: 10.1088/0067-0049/195/1/9 Bibcode: 2011ApJS..195....9C

Capitanio, F.; Bird, A. J.; Fiocchi, M. +2 more

During the operational life of the Italian/Dutch X-ray satellite (1996-2002), BeppoSAX, its two Wide Field Cameras (WFCs) performed observations that covered the full sky at different epochs. Although the majority of analysis performed on BeppoSAX WFC data concentrated on the detection of transient sources, we have now applied the same techniques …
