Atlas of Quasar Energy Distributions
DOI: 10.1086/192093 Bibcode: 1994ApJS...95....1E

Elvis, Martin; Wilkes, Belinda J.; McDowell, Jonathan C. +6 more

We present an atlas of the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of normal, nonblazar, quasars over the whole available range (radio to 10 keV X-rays) of the electromagnetic spectrum. The primary (UVSX) sample includes 47 quasars for which the spectral energy distributions include X-ray spectral indices and UV data. Of these, 29 are radio quiet, an…

An IUE Survey of Interstellar H i LY alpha Absorption. I. Column Densities
DOI: 10.1086/192052 Bibcode: 1994ApJS...93..211D

Savage, Blair D.; Diplas, Athanassios

We measure Galactic interstellar neutral hydrogen column densities by analyzing archival interstellar Ly alpha absorption line data toward 554 B2 and hotter stars observed at high resolution with the IUE satellite. This study more than doubles the number of lines of sight with measures of N(H I) based on Ly alpha. We have included the scattered li…

Density Contrast Shell Models for the Planetary Nebula IC 2165
DOI: 10.1086/191860 Bibcode: 1994ApJS...90..119H

Hyung, S.

Since planetary nebulae are spatially extended sources, measurements of individual line fluxes may pertain to different areas of their images. Photoelectric or infrared observations of the strongest lines may embrace the entire image; International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) observations involve an elliptical aperture, 10 sec x 23 sec; while a spe…

An Atlas of Ultraviolet P Cygni Profiles
DOI: 10.1086/192099 Bibcode: 1994ApJS...95..163S

Snow, Theodore P.; Lamers, Henny J. G. L. M.; Lindholm, Douglas M. +1 more

We have selected spectra of 232 stars from the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) archives for inclusion in an atlas intended for various uses but tailored especially for the study of stellar winds. The atlas covers the range in spectral types from O3 to F8. The full atlas covers the reduced and normalized high resolution spectra from the IU…

A Far-Ultraviolet Atlas of Symbiotic Stars Observed with IUE. I. The SWP Range
DOI: 10.1086/192078 Bibcode: 1994ApJS...94..183M

Kafatos, M.; Michalitsianos, A. G.; Fahey, R. P. +1 more

This atlas contains sample spectra from the far-ultraviolet observations of 32 symbiotic stars obtained with the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) satellite. In all, 394 low-resolution spectra from the short-wavelength primary (SWP) camera covering the range 1200-2000 A have been extracted from the IUE archive, calibrated, and measured. Abs…

Ultraviolet Spectral Classification and Stellar Winds in a Sample of Be and Standard Stars
DOI: 10.1086/192077 Bibcode: 1994ApJS...94..163S

Slettebak, Arne

Equivalent widths of 16 lines of C I, C II, C III, C IV, Si II, Si III, Si IV, Al II, Al III, Fe II, and Fe III, plus centriod and edge velocities of the Si IV and C IV lines, were measured in International Ultraviolet Explorer spectra of 39 Ble-B8e and 18 B1-B8 standard non-emission-line stars. These suggest the following: (1) Certain line ratios…
