AGB Candidates in the Field of γ Cas1
DOI: 10.48550/arXiv.1805.09191 Bibcode: 2018RMxAA..54..341N

We report the spectroscopic and photometric monitoring of a sample of 530 candidate AGB stars in a 5×5 degrees field, selected from the IPHAS catalog; historic light curves were derived from Asiago IR plates taken in the years 1965-1984. We found 10 Miras, 5 stars with long term trends, 3 semiregular and 3 irregular. Spectral types from CCD slit s…

δ Mus Revisited: Rectifying a 82 yr-old Mistake
DOI: 10.48550/arXiv.1806.01370 Bibcode: 2018RMxAA..54..355P

Boffin, Henri M. J.; Pourbaix, Dimitri

The red giant δ Muscae is known since 1919 to be a spectroscopic binary, and the first and only orbit was determined in 1936, claiming the period to be 847 days. This was discrepant with the Hipparcos determined astrometric orbit. Using the latest data available for this object - leading to a 100 yr time-span - we show here that the correct period…

Is HH 47 Slowing Down?
Bibcode: 2018RMxAA..54..261R

Velázquez, P. F.; Raga, A. C.; Noriega-Crespo, A.

We have used three epochs of red [S II] and Hα Hubble Space Telescope (HST) archival images of HH 47 to determine the proper motion velocities of the knots along the jet. With the three available epochs we compute two sets of proper motions (one using the first two epochs, and the second one using the last two epochs). Somewhat surprisingly, we fi…

The Time-Dependent Wavelet Spectrum of HH 1 and 2
Bibcode: 2018RMxAA..54..195R

Raga, A. C.; Esquivel, A.; Riera, A. +2 more

We have calculated the wavelet spectra of four epochs (spanning ≈20 yr) of Hα and [S II] HST images of HH 1 and 2. From these spectra we calculated the distribution functions of the (angular) radii of the emission structures. We found that the size distributions have maxima (corresponding to the characteristic sizes of the observed structures) wit…
