PyGFit: A Tool for Extracting PSF Matched Photometry
Gonzalez, Anthony H.; Moustakas, Leonidas A.; Mancone, Conor L. +1 more
We present PyGFit, a program designed to measure PSF-matched photometry from images with disparate pixel scales and PSF sizes. While PyGFit has a number of uses, its primary purpose is to extract robust spectral energy distributions (SEDs) from crowded images. It does this by fitting blended sources in crowded, low resolution images with models ge…
Mg II h + k Flux—Rotational Period Correlation for G-type Stars
Bertone, Emanuele; Olmedo, Manuel; Chávez, Miguel +1 more
We present an analysis of the correlation between the mid-UV Mg II h and k emission lines and measured rotational periods of G-type stars. Based on IUE and HST high resolution spectra of a sample of 36 stars, we derive an exponential function that best represents the correlation. We found that the variation of the Mg II h + k fluxes is about a fac…

Based on observations obtained with the Apache Point Observatory 3.5 m telescope, which is owned and operated by the Astrophysical Research Consortium, and on observations made with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, obtained from the Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes. STScI is operated by the Association of Universities f…“Superluminal” FITS File Processing on Multiprocessors: Zero Time Endian Conversion Technique
Eguchi, Satoshi
The FITS is the standard file format in astronomy, and it has been extended to meet the astronomical needs of the day. However, astronomical datasets have been inflating year by year. In the case of the ALMA telescope, a ∼TB-scale four-dimensional data cube may be produced for one target. Considering that typical Internet bandwidth is tens of MB/s…
Additional Newly Identified Star Clusters in M31
Krienke, O. Karl; Hodge, Paul W.
Using the HST archives, we have searched portions of the southern half and northwest quarter of the Andromeda Galaxy (M 31, NGC 224) for previously unrecognized star clusters. The result is a table of the characteristics of 71 newly identified star clusters. Most are moderately faint, low-mass clusters. Absolute magnitudes range from M(V) = -6.3 t…
