Overdensity of X-Ray Sources in the Field of Two Nearby Clusters of Galaxies: XMM-Newton View of A 194 and A 1060
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/58.6.931 Bibcode: 2006PASJ...58..931H

Two nearby clusters of galaxies, A194 (z=0.018) and A1060 (z=0.0114), have been analyzed for their X-ray point-source properties with XMM-Newton EPIC-PN data. A multi-band source detection technique was applied to both of the clusters, resulting in 46 sources from the A194 field and 32 sources from the A1060 field, respectively. The cumulative log…

Soft X-Ray Absorption Due to the Photo-Ionized Plasma in the Low-Mass X-Ray Binary EXO 0748-676 Observed with XMM-Newton Observatory
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/58.3.587 Bibcode: 2006PASJ...58..587A

Asai, Kazumi; Dotani, Tadayasu

We analyzed an effect of the photo-ionization on the continuum spectra using the XMM-Newton archive data of the low-mass X-ray binary EXO 0748-676. We found that the ionization degree of the circumstellar plasma, which modifies the soft X-ray spectrum through absorption, changes largely in association with the X-ray bursts and the dips. The burst …

First Results from the XMM-Newton Slew Survey
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/58.6.L47 Bibcode: 2006PASJ...58L..47R

Altieri, Bruno; Read, Andrew; Saxton, Richard +2 more

We have attempted to analyse all the available data taken by XMM-Newton as it slews between targets. This slew survey, the resultant source catalogue, and the analysis procedures used are described in an accompanying paper. In this letter we present the initial science results from the survey. To date, detailed source searching has been performed …

Apsidal Motion and Photometric Elements of the Eccentric Eclipsing Binary V401 Lacertae
DOI: 10.1093/pasj/58.1.159 Bibcode: 2006PASJ...58..159B

Demircan, Osman; Bulut, Ibrahim

New (UBV) photometric observations of the recently discovered eccentric orbit binary V401 Lacertae were analyzed by using the Wilson-Devinney program. Seven new minimum times were estimated by using new observations. The analysis of the light curves and all available minimum times has revealed that the system is detached, with the orbital eccentri…
