Short timescale UV variability study in NGC 4151 using IUE data
Doddamani, Vijayakumar H.; Vedavathi, P.
IUE has made very successful long term and intense short time-scale monitoring spectroscopic study of NGC 4151, a Seyfert 1 galaxy for over nearly 18 years from its launch in 1978 to 1996. The long-term observations have been useful in understanding the complex relation between UV continuum and emission line variability Seyfert galaxies. In this p…
Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Study of BY Circini and V 1425 Aquilae from IUE Satellite
Sanad, M. R.
We present the ultraviolet spectra of two classical novae, BY Circini 1995 and V1425 Aquilae 1995, using observations obtained with the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE). The outflow velocity of the ionized ejecta was calculated to be 2100–2700 km s‑1 and 1600–1900 km s‑1 (FWHM) for BY Cir and V1425 Aql, respectively. …
The Spectroscopic Orbit of 6-DRACONIS
Reimers, D.; Griffin, R. F.; Eitter, J. J.
6 Dra has long been known to show small variations in radial velocity, and there is photometric and spectroscopic evidence that its spectrum is composite. We show, largely on the basis of a generous number of photoelectric radial velocities mainly obtained at Cambridge and Fick observatories, that the orbit is of mild eccentricity and has a period…
HD 115781 and HD 116204—two RS CVn binaries
Fekel, Francis C.; Griffin, R. F.
HD 115781 and HD 116204 (BL CVn and BM CVn) are shown to be RS CVn binaries with periods near 20 days. HD 115781 is double-lined; the primary type is about K1III, while the secondary is probably a late-type subgiant. The masses of the two components are equal within observational error. There is substantial photometric variability with a period ha…
Ultraviolet Variability of HD62001 - the Central Star of the Missing Nebula VORONTSOV-VELYAMINOV1-7
Rao, N. K.; Gilra, D. P.
IUE observations of HD 62001 do not confirm the ultraviolet variability of 0.15 mag seen from the ANS observations. These intriguing variations in ANS observations seem to be caused by a nearby (∼ 70 arcsec away) B star getting in and out of the field of view of the telescope, which had a jitter of 20 arcsec. There seems to be no evidence for the …
Ultraviolet Observations of the Hydrogen Deficient Variable Star Mv-Sagittarii
Nandy, K.; Rao, N. K.
IUE observations of the hydrogen-deficient irregular variable star MV Sgr obtained in 1980 June-October and also in 1979 November are discussed. These observations show a prominent λ 2200 absorption feature. A value ofE(B — V) = 0.55 is deduced from the strength of λ 2200 band assuming that this absorption is caused by interstellar medium. The der…
