Iron Kα lines and the absorption structure of intermediate polars
King, A. R.; Watson, M. G.; Norton, A. J.
The X-ray spectra of Intermediate Polars typically show a large absorbing column density and a strong iron K emission line. Using observations made with EXOSAT and GINGA, we show that the lines probably have a fluorescent origin but that their equivalent widths are too large to be due to fluorescence solely in the material which gives rise to the …

Thermal X-ray Emission from Centre-filled Supernova Remnants
Jones, L. R.
Two middle-aged supernova remnants, W44 (G34.6-0.5) and W28 (G6.4-0.1), have been studied using EINSTEIN IPC imaging data and EXOSAT ME spectra. Both remnants have a centre-filled X-ray morphology and a radio shell, but the X-ray spectra imply a thermal origin (in one case iron Ka line emission is revealed). Deprojection analyses of the X-ray imag…
Narrow Iron K-line and Warm Iron K-edge in Pulse Phase Spectra of Hercules X-1
Kahabka, Peter
Spectra of the accreting neutron star Hercules X-1 observed with the EXOSAT GSPC detector on days 61,65,92 and 96 1984 were analysed for iron line features. A broad gaussian emission line with a FWHM of 1.32±0.13 keV was found during on, turn-off and short-on states in the 35-day-cycle at an energy of ~ 6.55keV in the pulse phase averaged spectra.…
