NOTE: A Visual Spectrum of Triton from the Hubble Space Telescope
DOI: 10.1006/icar.1999.6224 Bibcode: 1999Icar..142..571T

Bosh, Amanda S.; Tryka, Kimberly A.

Observations of Triton were made using the Faint Object Spectrograph on the Hubble Space Telescope in August of 1995. We present a visual spectrum of Triton between 3000 and 8500 Å. We compare our measurements with previous observations and find that Triton's color in 1995 is consistent with its color at the time of the Voyager 2 flyby.

Analysis of Midlatitude Auroral Emissions Observed during the Impact of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 with Jupiter
DOI: 10.1006/icar.1999.6198 Bibcode: 1999Icar..142..106B

Clarke, John T.; Bauske, Rainer; Combi, Michael R.

During the impact of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 fragment K on Jupiter observers detected aurora-like emissions near the impact region as well as in the other hemisphere at approximately magnetic conjugate positions equatorward of auroral latitudes. A number of generation mechanisms were suggested, but investigations of their significance have been ham…
