Infrared spectral energy distributions of the interacting galaxies ARP 244, NGC 6240, and ARP 220.
Schulz, B.; Klaas, U.; Heinrichsen, I. +1 more
For the luminous galaxies Arp 244, NGC 6240 and Arp 220 detailed infrared spectral energy distributions between 3 and 200µm obtained with ISOPHOT are presented. The maximum of the infrared energy distribution can now clearly be determined. The SEDs can be well represented by cold dust emission with temperatures of 30-50K which by far dominat…
The HIPPARCOS mission: photometric data.
Evans, D. W.; Mignard, F.; van Leeuwen, F. +3 more
An overview of the Hipparcos and Tycho photometric data is presented, with reference to the main aspects of the data reductions and the overall quality and quantity of the results. The data have been presented in three forms: as mean values in the astrometric catalogues, as epoch photometry, and as interpreted results of the variability analysis, …
Metals in the variable DA G29-38
Koester, D.; Shipman, H. L.; Provencal, J.
We report the detection of the heavy elements Ca, Mg, Fe in the atmosphere of the variable DA white dwarf G29-38. The abundance of Ca can be understood only if accretion from interstellar matter is going on currently at a high rate. This lends support also the interpretation of the observed infrared excess as due to heated circumstellar material, …
Wind variability of B supergiants. III. Corotating spiral structures in the stellar wind of HD 64760.
Owocki, S. P.; Cranmer, S. R.; Prinja, R. K. +2 more
Fourier analysis of two spectroscopic time series obtained with the IUE observatory confirm that the ultraviolet stellar wind profiles of HD 64760 (B0.5 Ib) are periodically variable. The periodic component consists of modulations that extend over most of the P Cygni absorption trough, and can frequently be traced through the emission lobe. The mo…
The stellar population of the globular cluster M 3. II. CCD photometry of additional 10,000 stars.
Cacciari, C.; Carretta, E.; Buonanno, R. +5 more
We present BVI CCD photometry for more than 10,000 stars in the innermost region (0.3'<r<~4') of the globular cluster M 3. When added to the previous photographic photometry by Buonanno et al. (1994A&A...290...69B) reaching as far as r~7', this results in an homogeneous data-set including about 19,000 stars measured in this cluster, whic…
Spectral analyses of central stars of planetary nebulae of early WC-type NGC 6751 and Sanduleak 3.
Hamann, W. -R.; Koesterke, L.
The two Wolf-Rayet type central stars of the planetary nebulae NGC 6751 and Sanduleak 3, showing the early spectral subtypes [WC4] and [WC2-3], respectively, are analyzed by means of non-LTE models for spherically expanding atmospheres. Complex model atoms of helium, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen are taken into account. For the atmospheric compositi…
Solar-type stars with planetary companions: 51 Pegasi and 47 Ursae Majoris.
Fuhrmann, K.; Pfeiffer, M. J.; Bernkopf, J.
Accurate stellar parameters are presented for the solar-type stars 51 Peg and 47 UMa. The announcement of the detection of jovian planets around these objects has recently caused much attention to extrasolar planet research. From the analysis of high resolution spectrograms we obtain for 51 Peg: T_eff_=5793+/-70K, log(g)=4.33+/-0.1, [Fe/H]=+0.20+/…
The distinction between OIafpe and WNLha stars. A spectral analysis of HD 151804, HD 152408 and HDE 313846.
Crowther, P. A.; Bohannan, B.
From detailed atmospheric analysis of the Galactic late O supergiants, HD 151804 (O8Iaf) and HD 152408 (O8:Iafpe) and the morphologically related Wolf-Rayet star, HDE 313846 (WR108; WN9ha) we conclude that little distinguishes the overall structure and composition of the stellar atmosphere of HD 152408 from HDE 313846, such that HD 152408 could be…
Double star data in the HIPPARCOS Catalogue
Badiali, M.; Pannunzio, R.; Arenou, F. +12 more
The Hipparcos Catalogue contains astrometric results for 117955 catalogue entries, many of which are in reality double or multiple stars. For 17917 entries special solutions were made in order to cope with the various manifestations of multiplicity, and 6763 other entries were flagged as suspected binaries but solved as single stars. Details of th…
ISOCAM 7 micron deep survey of the Lockman Hole: A mid-infrared search for primeval galaxies
Sanders, D. B.; Kawara, K.; Taniguchi, Y. +11 more
We present results of our 7 mu m deep survey program made with ISOCAM, the infrared camera of ISO (Infrared Space Observatory). We have found 15 sources above a 5 sigma_rms significance in a small selected area (3(') x 3(') ) in the Lockman HI hole. Among the 15 sources, 14 objects have also been observed in the near infrared (NIR: ~ 2 mu m). The …
