GRO J1008-57: an (almost) predictable transient X-ray binary
DOI: 10.1051/0004-6361/201321203 Bibcode: 2013A&A...555A..95K

Klochkov, D.; Wilms, J.; Ferrigno, C. +13 more

A study of archival RXTE, Swift, and Suzaku pointed observations of the transient high-mass X-ray binary GRO J1008-57 is presented. A new orbital ephemeris based on pulse arrival-timing shows the times of maximum luminosities during outbursts of GRO J1008-57 to be close to periastron at orbital phase - 0.03. This makes the source one of a few for …

Cross-calibration of Suzaku/XIS and XMM-Newton/EPIC using galaxy clusters
DOI: 10.1051/0004-6361/201220408 Bibcode: 2013A&A...552A..47K

Miller, E. D.; Nevalainen, J.; Kettula, K.

Aims: We extend a previous cross-calibration study conducted by the International Astronomical Consortium for High Energy Calibration (IACHEC) on XMM-Newton/EPIC, Chandra/ACIS and BeppoSAX/MECS X-ray instruments with galaxy clusters to Suzaku/XIS instruments. Our aim is to study the accuracy of the energy-dependent effective area calibration …

Fermi-LAT and Suzaku observations of the radio galaxy Centaurus B
DOI: 10.1051/0004-6361/201220270 Bibcode: 2013A&A...550A..66K

Cheung, C. C.; Funk, S.; Kataoka, J. +8 more

Centaurus B is a nearby radio galaxy positioned in the southern hemisphere close to the Galactic plane. Here we present a detailed analysis of about 43 months of accumulated Fermi-LAT data of the γ-ray counterpart of the source initially reported in the 2nd Fermi-LAT catalog, and of newly acquired Suzaku X-ray data. We confirm its detection at GeV…

Suzaku observations of the low surface brightness cluster A76
DOI: 10.1051/0004-6361/201321676 Bibcode: 2013A&A...556A..21O

Böhringer, H.; Chon, G.; Ota, N. +2 more

Aims: We present the results of Suzaku observations of a nearby galaxy cluster, A76 at z = 0.0395. This cluster is characterized by extremely low X-ray surface brightness and is hereafter referred to as the LSB cluster. We investigate the nature and thermodynamic evolution of the LSB cluster by studying the physical propert…

X-ray view of four high-luminosity Swift/BAT AGN: Unveiling obscuration and reflection with Suzaku
DOI: 10.1051/0004-6361/201219460 Bibcode: 2013A&A...555A..44F

Malaguti, G.; Mushotzky, R. F.; Koss, M. +2 more

Aims: A complete census of obscured active galactic nuclei (AGN) is necessary to reveal the history of the super massive black hole (SMBH) growth and galaxy evolution in the Universe given the complex feedback processes and the fact that much of this growth occurs in an obscured phase. In this context, hard X-ray surveys and dedicated follow-…
