Suzaku measurement of Abell 2204's intracluster gas temperature profile out to 1800 kpc
Zhang, Y. -Y.; Ishisaki, Y.; Fujita, Y. +6 more
Context: Measurements of intracluster gas temperatures out to large radii, where much of the galaxy cluster mass resides, are important for using clusters for precision cosmology and for studies of cluster physics. Previous attempts to measure robust temperatures at cluster virial radii have failed.
Aims: The goal of this work is to measure th…
Broad-band properties of the hard X-ray cataclysmic variables IGR J00234+6141 and 1RXS J213344.1+510725
Mukai, K.; de Martino, D.; Terada, Y. +5 more
Context: A significant number of cataclysmic variables have been detected as hard X-ray sources in the INTEGRAL survey, most of them of the magnetic intermediate polar type.
Aims: We present a detailed X-ray broad-band study of two new sources, IGR J00234+6141 and 1RXS J213344.1+510725, that allow us to classify them as secure members of the i…
A Suzaku observation of the ULIRG IRAS19254-7245: discerning the AGN component
Ptak, A.; Reeves, J. N.; Braito, V. +3 more
We discuss a long Suzaku observation of IRAS 19254-7245 (also known as the Superantennae), one of the brightest and well studied Ultra Luminous Infrared Galaxies in the local Universe. This long observation provided the first detection of IRAS 19254-7245 above 10 keV, and a measurement of a 15-30 keV flux of ~5× 10-12 erg cm-2
Suzaku observation of IGR J16318-4848
Nowak, M. A.; Tomsick, J. A.; Walter, R. +4 more
We report on the first <sl>Suzaku</sl> observation of IGR J16318-4848, the most extreme example of a new group of highly absorbed X-ray binaries that have recently been discovered by the International Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory (<sl>INTEGRAL</sl>). The <sl>Suzaku</sl> observation was carried out between 2…
Suzaku observation of the Phoenix galaxy
Bianchi, S.; Guainazzi, M.; Comastri, A. +5 more
Context: In recent years, several Seyfert 2 galaxies have been discovered that change state when observed in X-rays a few years apart, switching from Compton-thin to reflection-dominated or viceversa.
Aims: We observed a member of this class of "Changing-look" sources, the Phoenix galaxy, with {Suzaku}, with the aim of better understanding the…
Neutral absorber dips in the periodic burster LMXB XB 1323-619 from Suzaku
Church, M. J.; Dotani, T.; Bałucińska-Church, M. +1 more
We present results of an observation with Suzaku of the dipping, periodic bursting low mass X-ray binary XB 1323-619. Using the energy band 0.8-70 keV, we show that the source spectrum is well-described as the emission of an extended accretion disk corona, plus a small contribution of blackbody emission from the neutron star. The dip spectrum is w…
