We report the identification of a new cataclysmic variable (denoted as CV2) and a probable microlensing event in the field of the globular cluster M22. Two outbursts were observed for CV2. During one of them superhumps with P_sh=0.0887 d were present in the light curve. CV2 has an X-ray counterpart detected by XMM-Newton. A very likely microlensin…

SX Phoenicis Stars in the Globular Cluster M 13
Bibcode: 2005AcA....55...85K

Kopacki, G.

We present results of the search for SX Phe stars in the globular cluster M 13. In photometric reductions we used the image subtraction method supplemented with procedure of searching for short-period variable stars, based on the examination of each pixel in the CCD frames. We illustrate also the ability of this approach to find variability with s…

Estimation of Projection Effect of CMEs from the Onset Time of the Shock-Associated Type III Radio Burst
Bibcode: 2005AcA....55..151M

Gopalswamy, N.; Michalek, G.; Yashiro, S.

We present a new possibility to estimate the projection effects on coronal mass ejection (CME) measurements. It is well known that coronagraphic observations of CMEs are subject to projection effects. Fortunately, the WIND/WAVES observations of type III radio bursts associated with shock waves are free from projection effects. We assume that (1) h…

New beta Cephei and SPB Stars Discovered in Hipparcos Photometry
Bibcode: 2005AcA....55..375M

Molenda-Zakowicz, J.; Polubek, G.

We discuss 34 stars for which we detected new frequencies in Hipparcos Hp magnitudes. 13 of these stars are variables discovered in this paper. For 20 stars, we derive log T_eff and log g from Stromgren or Geneva photometry.

We classify one new beta Cep star, HIP 88352, two new beta Cep suspects, HIP 54753 and 88123, four new SPBs, HIP 1030, …
