The preparation and use of atomic data for the SOHO mission.
Lang, J.
Abstract
An overview of the SOHO mission is given, including brief descriptions of the major spectroscopic instruments CDS and SUMER. The range of ions whose spectra will be observed is discussed in the context of available fundamental atomic data, principally energy levels, transition probabilities and electron excitation rate coefficients. The use of ADAS (atomic data and analysis structure) to store the fundamental data and to produce the derived data necessary to interpret the solar spectral intensities is described.
