Abstract
High-dispersion ultraviolet spectra of eleven early-type peculiar stars have been obtained with the IUE. The B II resonance line at 1362.46 Å is clearly present in two Mn-Hg stars (κ Cnc and HR 7.361) and in 20 Tao, while the presence of this line cannot be confirmed in the remaining eight stars. The B II subordinate lines near 1624 Å and the B III resonance line at 2067.23 Å are detected in these two Mn-Hg stars. In five Mn-Hg stars observed in the wavelength region 2000 Å-3200 Å, the Be II resonance lines at 3130.42 Å and 3131.06 Å are definitely present. These lines are probably present in 20 Tau. On the other hand, the Be II resonance lines are too weak to be detected in the observed magnetic Ap stars.
